Angela's Story
When I was first diagnosed with cancer in June 2018, I did not have health insurance. $43,000 later and I finally had a firm diagnosis – NSCLC (non-small cell lung cancer). This cost was just for a diagnosis - no treatment yet.

I do have insurance now but I still can’t believe how much everything is still going to cost out of pocket between a ridiculous premium, deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance and things that insurance just doesn’t pay for.

My treatment plan is going to include chemo, surgery, radiation, and immunotherapy. Have you ever tried to get a quote from a doctor or a surgeon? It’s like pulling teeth. They don’t want to tell. It certainly isn’t like getting a quote for fixing your car. I don’t know why. Healthcare is a for-profit (shouldn’t be) institution and you should know what you are going to have to pay.

Sorry about the tangent…but after all is said and done, I will be short thousands of dollars. Without treatment I will die. I really don’t want to die, but at my age, I really don’t want to be in debt thousands of dollars either.

I believe in the common good. I believe you do too or you wouldn’t be reading this on gofundme.

I humbly ask for your help. I am grateful for any amount that you can donate. Sharing this campaign will also help very much.

Warmest regards,
Angie
